Palo is a religion brought to the New World
from the Congo.
in Cuba, Brazil and Haiti,
and has since traveled throughout the diaspora.
A "palo" in Spanish literally means "stick".
Traditionally, sticks cut from branches
of selected trees have been
used as medicine for healing and magic.
